Terms

These terms govern rtblint.org, the hosted tester, the hosted MCP server at rtblint.org/mcp, and related APIs. Using those tools means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not paste, type, drop, share, or send a payload to the hosted MCP endpoint. The CLI, library, and local rtblint-mcp stdio server do not send payloads and are not covered here except where you later submit the same payload through a hosted tool. Privacy describes what we keep. These terms describe what you allow us to do with it.

Submitting a payload

If you paste, type, drop, or share JSON in the tester, or send a payload to the hosted MCP server, you are submitting that payload. You represent that you have the right to submit it, that you are authorized to let us handle it as described here, and that doing so will not violate any contract, insertion order, privacy law, or third-party right. Do not submit a live production payload unless you accept that we may treat it as a development and research sample.

License

You grant the operator of rtblint.org a worldwide, royalty-free, irrevocable, non-exclusive license to copy, store, parse, transform, retain, and use submitted payloads, for operating the tools; for developing, testing, and improving validation rules and related products; and for research and scientific publication as described below. That includes replaying, redacting, clustering, and deriving fixtures and rules from the JSON.

We do not fetch live bid URLs found in a sample. We do not sell payloads. We do not publish submitted JSON as a public gallery or as a downloadable raw corpus. We may keep a sample after you opt out in the browser; opt-out stops new sends from that browser, it does not recall payloads already stored.

Research and scientific use

We may use submitted payloads for research and scientific publication about OpenRTB validation, specification conformance, and related advertising-technology protocols. That includes:

• computing and publishing aggregate statistics
• publishing preprints, papers, talks, and similar scholarly work
• publishing issue-level datasets (rule identifiers and structural paths, without submitted JSON values)
• for payloads submitted after this notice is posted, quoting short redacted excerpts when they illustrate a finding and do not identify a natural person

For payloads already stored before this notice, research is limited to uses that do not publish submitted JSON: aggregate statistics, issue-level findings, and papers or preprints based on those. We will not quote submitted JSON from those older samples. Email aleks@vastlint.org if you want a previously stored sample excluded from research.

No warranty

The site and tools are provided as is, for QA and engineering. We do not warrant that validation is complete, or that a green result will pass any exchange. Use at your own risk.

Limit of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of rtblint.org is not liable for lost profits, ad spend, campaign delivery, brand-safety flags, third-party vendor charges, or any indirect or consequential loss, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, arising from use of the tools or from our handling of a submitted payload. Aggregate liability for all claims relating to the free hosted tools is limited to the greater of fees you paid us for those tools (currently none) or one hundred US dollars.

Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify the operator of rtblint.org, and people working on it, against claims, damages, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from a payload you submitted or from your breach of these terms, including claims by your employer, a demand partner, an SSP, a DSP, a publisher, or a measurement vendor.

Changes

We may update these terms. The updated text applies to payloads submitted after it is posted. Continued use of the tools after a change is acceptance of the new terms. The research uses for already-stored payloads are described in Research and scientific use above.
