Pinterest Programmatic Deals name Magnite and Google Ad Manager as parallel supply paths, but Europe is not in the launch and no deal id is public.
On October 26, 2026, Pinterest made Programmatic Deals generally available in North America, South America, and Asia Pacific. Enterprise buyers can reach selected display and video inventory through Magnite as the primary supply-side partner, with Google Ad Manager also handling supply in Latin America and Asia Pacific, and through demand-side platforms that include Amazon Ads DVA+, Google Display and Video 360, Yahoo DSP, and DeepIntent. Europe is not on the geography list, and Pinterest publishes no deal types, floor prices, or country map. The same week, LinkedIn opened CTV with job-title targeting inside DV360 in the United States, which is the same workflow story from a different walled garden: inventory moves into the DSP the buyer already runs, while the OpenRTB contract underneath stays opaque until someone captures a bid request.
Workflow integration is not bidstream transparency
Pinterest's newsroom post describes the product as a way to include its inventory in broader media plans and to broaden demand for its inventory. That is a supply-path statement dressed as a planning convenience. When a buyer activates Pinterest inside DV360 or Amazon DVA+, the DSP can apply cross-channel frequency caps, audience segments, and reporting shells that already wrap streaming TV and open web display. None of that requires the buyer to see how Magnite labeled the seller, which deal id matched, or whether Google Ad Manager rather than Magnite emitted the request for a given country.
Trade coverage on the same day notes that Adweek heard private marketplace and preferred deals in the launch set, with programmatic guaranteed still in testing. Pinterest's own announcement never uses those OpenRTB words. It calls the product Programmatic Deals, says inventory is selected, and routes enterprise advertisers to a sales representative. A bidder engineer cannot infer from the press release whether imp.pmp.private_auction is 0 or 1, whether a Deal.guar flag is set, or whether the impression is even offered on the open auction path at all.
That gap matters because the Moroccanoil case study Pinterest cites ran in June 2026, before general availability, through Magnite and Amazon Ads. Amazon internal data for June 1 through 30, 2026 is the footnote behind the 15 percent incremental reach, 1 percent audience overlap, 63 percent more new-to-brand buyers among paths that included Pinterest, and 20 percent higher click-through rate versus the brand's average video and display campaigns. Pinterest states those results are specific to that campaign and are not indicative of future performance. They are also not a specification for what your capture will contain when you turn on a line item in October.
Two supply-side partners, one platform
Magnite is named as the primary partner that connects Pinterest inventory and audience signals to buying platforms. Pinterest inventory is also part of Magnite Orchestration, the agent coordination layer Magnite launched in beta on June 11, 2026. Sean Buckley's quote in the announcement goes further: Magnite may extend Pinterest intent signals across the open web, not only sell on-site placements. Pinterest does not define audience signals, does not list fields, and does not say whether user-level ids, contextual board topics, or search keywords travel in user.data, site.content, or a proprietary extension.
In Latin America and Asia Pacific, Pinterest also works with Google Ad Manager on the supply side. That is a second hop taxonomy for the same product name. A buyer who treats Pinterest as one publisher id in the DSP may still receive requests whose source.ext.schain or exchange metadata reflect Magnite in one market and Google's stack in another. Debugging underdelivery by blaming weak Pinterest demand is premature if the line item geography includes Mexico or Singapore and the capture never hits the SSP path Pinterest actually enabled for that region.
PPC Land's same-day write-up flags an inconsistency in the geography language: Google Ad Manager is described for Latin America while availability is listed as North America, South America, and Asia Pacific. Mexico and Central America sit in Latin America but not in South America. Pinterest publishes no country list, so a regional targeting preset in the DSP cannot be validated against a public map. Our European programmatic guaranteed slice post is the mirror image on another continent: headline reach numbers and ad-server delivery do not tell you which requests your US-trained filters were built to read.
What the request might carry when a deal clears
When a private marketplace deal is in play, OpenRTB expects the impression to advertise it under imp.pmp. A minimal shape looks like the following. Pinterest has not published its deal ids; the strings below are illustrative placeholders only.
"imp": [{
"id": "1",
"banner": { "w": 300, "h": 250 },
"pmp": {
"private_auction": 1,
"deals": [{
"id": "PINTEREST-ENTERPRISE-DEAL-ID",
"bidfloor": 8.50,
"bidfloorcur": "USD",
"at": 3
}]
}
}]A bidder that ignores imp.pmp.deals when its seat is not on the deal list will no-bid with reason codes your seller may never see. A bidder that treats every Pinterest-shaped request as open exchange will misfire on floors and on authorization. Without a published deal catalog, the only honest workflow is to capture live traffic after sales provisions a deal id, then diff against your Pinterest Ads Manager buys, which use a completely different pipe.
Magnite's public xAPI model is where profile-specific checks live for buyers who integrate with that exchange. The existence of a Magnite profile in a validator does not mean Pinterest has turned on every optional extension on day one of general availability. It means you have a place to compare a capture once you have one.
Europe is out, and measurement is a second pipe
Programmatic Deals are available in North America, South America, and Asia Pacific. Europe is absent. Pinterest reported 640 million monthly active users as of Q2 2026 in the same announcement, with more than 80 billion monthly searches, more than half commercial. Those users are not all reachable through this product. Trade reporting has put European monthly actives near 150 million in prior quarters. A global RFP that assumes Pinterest is reachable wherever the DSP has a seat will overstate addressable inventory until Pinterest publishes a European date.
Google's quote promises full-funnel measurement from search through discovery to checkout inside DV360. Pinterest does not explain in the announcement whether Pinterest-tag or Conversions API events attach to DSP-bought impressions the way they attach to Ads Manager spend. That is a collector problem, not an auction problem, but it determines whether your downstream join keys match the bid id you stored. For the checkout event name and action_source spelling on Pinterest's API, see pixellint.org on Pinterest checkout versus Purchase. RTBlint is independent and not affiliated with Pinterest, Magnite, or Google.
Index Exchange appeared in Pinterest's ads.txt on November 28, 2024, and Criteo on January 25, 2025, according to PPC Land's timeline. Neither seller is named in the October 26 general availability post. Programmatic access has been widening for years; today's news is the formal enterprise product and the named DSP list, not the invention of third-party demand. Buyers auditing supply path should reconcile ads.txt and sellers.json rows with the deals their account team actually activated, not with the headline partner logos alone.
Checklist before you budget harmonized reach
- Capture a bid request and response after your deal id is live; confirm
imp.pmp.deals, floors, andatmatch what sales sold. - Split reporting by country and by SSP metadata when Latin America or Asia Pacific are in scope, because Magnite and Google Ad Manager are both named on supply.
- Remove or segment European geos until Pinterest publishes European availability; do not infer reach from global MAU figures in the newsroom post.
- Compare schain completeness on Pinterest deal traffic against your open-web Pinterest retargeting lines; they are not guaranteed to share the same hop count.
- Keep Ads Manager conversion QA separate from DSP delivery QA until Pinterest documents how tag and CAPI events bind to programmatic deal impressions.
Inspect a capture in the Magnite profile or the generic OpenRTB validator when a new deal id lands. The linter does not know your sales contract; it tells you whether the payload you received is internally consistent enough to price.
